D.EL.ED
Formerly known as Elementary Teacher Training Course
(ETTC) is a two-year compact capsule designed to train a
teacher with the basic skills of classroom teaching. The
teacher is sensitised to various psychological
principles underlying the growth and development of the
children falling in the age group 5 -13. The training
exposes a teacher to childhood education and integrated
teaching. There are certain pre-requisites that make a
teacher eligible for the diploma such as a proper hold
in the first and second language, mathematics, natural
and social sciences. S/he must be able to develop skills
in identifying, selecting and organizing learning
experiences to teach the afore mentioned subjects in
situations formal and non-formal. A teacher must also
possess sufficient theoretical Diploma in Elementary
Education (D.EL.ED.) and practical knowledge of health,
physical and recreational activities, work education,
art and music. Home provides the first school to a child
in his learning process. Our diploma course effectively
underlines the importance of home in the personality
development of the child. It enables a teacher-trainee
to understand the role of home, peer groups and
involvement of community in shaping the personality of
the child. The sole objective of the diploma revolves
around empowering a teacher to help a child achieve an
allround personality development. It also inculcates a
sense of value commitment by generating capacities for
greater motivation and aspiration.
